Check out a new song from indie vets Sunshine Boys (Show Wednesday)
Chicago’s Sunshine Boys are a relatively new band but their pedigree is an impressive list of 80s/90s power pop and alt rock bands including The Slugs, Poi Dog Pondering and Blake Babies. All these bands factor into the Sunshine Boys’ sound. “Infinity Girl” is the first single from the upcoming 2nd album Work And Love due out later this year and definitely brings to mind the band’s pedigree. Singer/guitarist Dag Juhlin’s jangly guitar and vocals gives some definite REM vibes under a nice layer of guitars over a steady rhythm section of Freda Love Smith and Jacqueline Schimmel. Sunshine Boys have all been around long enough to know how to craft a quality song and this is a good teaser for the full length coming out. Don’t miss them before Smith’s former Blake Babies bandmate Juliana Hatfield, just don’t expect to get a impromptu band reunion like Nashville got a few weeks ago.
