Video: Moss Kwa’s “I’ve Seen It All” / March Release Show

Local songwriter Moss Kwa (real name, Christine Hoberg) has a pretty impressive resume. She’s had her music performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, not to mention national television programs, and has received a number of awards. Still, while she’s traversed the globe on many a musical endeavor, Hoberg isn’t quite yet a household name in her current home, the Twin Cities.

That should probably change soon. Hoberg has a number of excellent releases under her own name (notably album World Within which I really dig). She’s also recently released a new single as Moss Kwa, “I’ve Seen It All,” which you can check out the video for above. As Moss Kwa, Hoberg produces ethereal lo-fi dream pop with distinct dub undertones. It’s probably too early to tell if it will represent a totally new direction (to go with the new name) but if the rest of Moss Kwa’s new work is of a similar strain, it might represent something of a shift towards a more pop-oriented sound.

Moss Kwa will play a release show for the single next week on March 18th at the 331 Club (alongside another local artist we dig, Kate Malanaphy). Should be a great show! Details here
