Get Lost in New Instrumental Soundtracks from William Tyler & Blanck Mass

Two albums that have put themselves into heavy rotation during this COVID-19 lockdown are soundtracks to movies I probably will not ever end up seeing, strangely enough. But when primitive Americana guitarist William Tyler and electronic noisemaker Blanck Mass release new albums, I don’t miss them. As fans of each artist would suspect, Tyler’s output is a but more laconic, featuring thoughtful guitar excursions and meandering melodies. Blanck Mass is his usual pallet of primordial electronics oscillating between tense and explosive, creating a foreboding experience that I can only imagine ratchets up whatever is happening in the movie.

Even if you, like me, don’t have plans to see these movies, the soundtracks are sonic adventures that are worth their own scrutiny, especially if you have a little more time on your hands right now to let your mind wander. Listen to and purchase both below.
