Introducing: Extraterrestrials
Much like a lot of us, local quartet Extraterrestrials recently found themselves stuck at home with very little to do. The band, however, was able to use the time afforded to them as an opportunity to release their latest EP Voyager I (named after the spacecraft that was launched 40+ years ago which is now outside our Solar System).
Voyager I is a voyage in and of itself, into a world of spacey synthesizer-infused rock music. The EP starts out with one of my favorite tracks of recent memory, “Arm in a Sling,” (in which the synths sound not unlike a theremin) and completes roughly within fifteen minutes later. On the cosmic journey are dips into wormholes of post-punk, asteroid fields of alternative rock, and gravity wells of jangle pop.
Extraterrestrials are Orion Treon on lead vox/guitar, Will Hawkinson on bass, Justin Fischer on drums, and Sarah Wold on keys. You can stream Voyager I below and if you dig it, purchase (and help the band make it through these times of social distancing and limited gainful employment).
