Listen to Dua Saleh’s Stunning New EP Rosetta
Minneapolis artist Dua Saleh’s stunning new EP, Rosetta, continues their meteoric rise and leaves no doubt that they are one of the best, most forward-thinking artists coming out of our (or any) music scene right now. The five-song EP, like previous work, feels unconstrained by genres and rules, pushing and pulling listeners through more worlds than what seems like should be possible in under 18 minutes. The songs were produced by Psymun (with help from Sir Dylan and Andrew Broder) and the music is some of the most ambitious of Dua’s short-but-profilic career. “umbrellar” sounds like a pop hit from some future space outpost, while “hellbound” continues their tradition making music that is tense and raw, with a crackling beat serving as the canvas for some of Dua’s best work. Album opener “cat scratch” is one of the clearest articulation of Dua’s sound and might be the most anthemic song they have created. The whole record is a project that showcases an artist continuing to grow and expand before our eyes, creating some of the most exciting music in Minneapolis or beyond.
