Listen to The Latest LP SUGARTREE from Local Post-Punks Waveless

Local trio Waveless have carved a path over the last few years making dark, charging post-punk that ventures into as disparate genres as shoegaze and acid-fried folk. On their latest LP, SUGARTREE, the band continue to explore the genres they’ve touched on with the previous releases, but also take some detours that expand their sound. While much of the album bristles with the same urgent, fuzzy, reverb-soaked energy as before, they also touch on genres like cinematic ambience (“a p o g e e”), minimalist folk (“I WILL” & “BLACKLISTED ACTRESS”) and haunted pop (“ELIMINATE FATE”). It’s an album that jumps around without sounding scattered. The whole record is wrapped in hazy atmospherics, creating a record that feels perfectly distant and moody for these uncertain times.
