Song Premiere: Flowerstalks “Doomscroller” (Album out today!)
Local quartet Flowerstalks have been around for a few years mixing up their own unique sound that explores many corners past your conventional indie rock band. Following up their last record (2018’s Fig. 1) the band is dropping what they describe as a concept album on this final day of 2020. We’re happy to debut for you a track this morning of the release. “Doomscroller” covers quite a bit of ground in its 4 1/2 minutes and gives you a good window to what Basic Malaise is all about. Opening with some intricate indie jazz workouts reminiscent of Karate into full on loud rock chorus into mathy start stops and a spoken breakdown. It’s a song that demands your close listening attention while still remaining head bobbingly catchy and cohesive as well. Basic Malaise drops sometime later today so get yourself over to Bandcamp and get it for yourself.
