Video: Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds’ “He Walks In”

As far as rock pedigree goes, it’s tough to compete with Kid Congo Powers. The California-born guitarist was a founding member of the Gun Club, played in both the Cramps and Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds, before going on to form his own band, Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds, which has now been going for well over a decade.

With his most recent iteration, Congo has released a number of well-received if under-the-radar records.  The most recent will be an EP called Sean De Lear after (and in tribute to) the late Los Angeles iconoclast musician of the same name.  You can check out an epic single from it “He Walks In” via the recently released video above. It’s a jazz and psychedelic rock tinged groove that slowly works itself into a kind of dizzying trance that gradually and gradually intensifies.
