Bandcamp Friday: The Solo Post Rock of Wallet Sized Wildfire
Speaking from experience, it’s been hard the past year for musicians and most of us haven’t finished that solo album we started last March. Thankfully that hasn’t been the case for everyone though. I stumbled on the debut of Wallet Sized Wildfire (aka Dalton Krause) recently which dropped back in January. Credited as a completely solo creation, Wallet Sized Wildfire is an impressive exercise of instrumental post rock. There’s some vibes of early 2000s bands like Turing Machine (the rave up of the opener “OH!”), meandering Eastern-ish guitar (“We Wonder Sometimes”) and some classic cinematic build ups (“Lord Vader”) but all pull together in a very unique and impressive debut. It’s Bandcamp Friday today (4/2) so grab this along with your other purchases while all money goes to the artists.
