Andy Ulseth: “In An Election Year” / Proceeds Benefit NAMIMN

If the past year (plus) has done anything it’s reminded us all of the importance of mental health. Levels of anxiety and depression in particular across our nation have skyrocketed, and thrust into totally new and unfamiliar circumstances, many of us are struggling to cope.

It’s never a bad idea to ask for help, and no matter your circumstance I guarantee that you are not alone. May is National Mental Health Awareness Month and there is no time like the present to check in with yourself and your loved ones to have honest conversations around how you are doing.

Local artist Andy Ulseth recently attempted to capture the “proverbial rollercoaster ride” that the past months have been and how they have wreaked havoc on our collective psyche in a tune called “In An Election Year.” It’s an epic tune in four parts, set to piano, that ranges in tone between plaintive folk and indie rock. Ulseth has a gentle tenor singing voice that perfectly suits his earnest and honest lyricism. It feels like a nine minute plus catharsis.

Through the rest of the month, any and all proceeds from sales of the track will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness – Minnesota. Check out the tune below and/or purchase here.

And don’t forget to take care of yourself and those you love!
