Introducing: Sparrowhawk
This fall as the temperature starts to go down, so too do the remaining number of chances to rip your sleeves off and cruise the town blasting your favorite power pop ballads. Local quartet Sparrowhawk have arrived with a new record just in time to fuel one last riff-heavy rock n’ roll hurrah. Or at least you can sample a couple singles – the official release date for their self-titled record seems undetermined, but the energy in both TAKE A BOW” and “COLONY SONG,” should be enough to at least give you the idea.
Sparrowhaw consists of Damien Tank (Drums), Zach Mccormick (Bass/Vox), Johnny Eggerman (Guitar/Vox), and Marty Mueller (guitar). They are heavily influenced by the original working class “van rock” heroes Thin Lizzy and that’s very evident in the sound on these singles. They also draw inspiration from power-pop, glam, and first wave punk to flesh out out their own unique take on the genre. You can listen to both singles below. Follow them here for updates on when the rest of Sparrowhaw becomes available (hopefully an event accompanied by a local face-melting show).
