Funky Friday: A Bongo Joe Benefit Comp Supporting Earthquake Victims Featuring Artists like Altın Gün+ Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek
A few weeks back a horrific earthquake hit Turkey and Syria, causing the loss of life of tens of thousands of people and an amazing amount of ongoing human suffering. Bongo Joe is a label that has found and promoted artists from the region, including favorites like Altın Gün, Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek and more. While it can be easy to feel helpless and numb to something so awful that happened so far away, there is always something we can collectively do. Bongo Joe made helping easy and enjoyable, pulling together a comp of artists on their label and making the record “pay what you can” with all proceeds going to NGOs on the ground doing work helping people impacted by this catastrophe. Even if the music wasn’t so amazing (and it is), this is a great way to send some love and solidarity to people dealing with unimaginable horrors. Give what you can.
