Being Dead: “Daydream” / Album Out This Summer
Austin, Texas based trio Being Dead will release their debut album When Horses Would Run later this Summer on Bayonet Records. Based on the singles, it’s already one of my most highly anticipated releases, the latest of which, “Daydream,” just came out this week.
The band has a wholly eclectic approach to songcraft that draws on elements of garage/surf rock and experimental pop. Their music contains whipcord left turns and breezy harmonies in equal measure and they employ a casual and irony-infused approach to their lyricism. It’s an approach that feels both artful and intentional while maintaining a sense of fun and spontaneity – no easy task.
You can check out “Daydream” now – the video is pretty out there but in the band’s words they “had a lot of ideas for this one and ended up just cramming them all in there.” Their goal was to produce a “highly-condensed Pride and Prejudice 2.” Make what you will of it and if you are as into it as I am, you can pre-order the record here.
Hopefully Being Dead will accompany the album with a tour (TBD).
