Greta Ruth: “Cuseo Hands”
It’s kind of amazing when some of your favorite local artists find each other, collaborate, and make something that really brings out the talents of each. Local experimental artist Greta Ruth recently collaborated with Andrew Broder for her latest single “Cuseo Hands.” Broder arranged the tune’s string accompaniment (performed by cellist Cecelia Swanson) and it’s the perfect complement to Ruth’s affecting lyrics and fingerpicked guitar.
Ruth wrote the tune inspired by an experience at New York’s Rockaway Beach. In her own words it’s about “longing to embrace femininity, longing to make a worthwhile sacrifice, but not yet finding the way.” That longing is evident in the song’s yearning, melancholy tone. “Cuseo Hands” is likely to appear on Holy Omen, Ruth’s next album that should be coming out on 9/8 (check out the titular track here).
