Ambient Pedal Steel Artist Chuck Johnson Show TONIGHT (TUE) in St. Paul Ahead of Drone Not Drones Set
Chuck Johnson creates lush, dreamy soundscapes using pedal steel guitar and a bevy of electronics, and it is some of the most serene music you’ll find. Unsurprisingly, he does a lot of soundtrack work (see his extensive catalog HERE), but my favorite from his catalog is his 2017 LP Balsams, which you can preview below. Hit play for even a few seconds and you’ll realize the powerful, meditative beauty he creates and I bet you’ll join me in following him down whatever roads he travels.
Lucky for us here in Minnesota, he’ll be playing twice this week. Over the weekend he’ll be playing a set with the great (formerly local) Cole Police, but Tuesday (Jan 23) he’ll be playing a set at a art space called Night Club, located at 340 Wabasha St N, along with Gabriel Saloman of Yellow Swans. Music is at 8pm and tickets are $10 at the door. Don’t miss out!
