Jaime Wyatt Brings Soul to Country in “Feel Good” (Show Tuesday!)
Jaime Wyatt’s Neon Cross album, released in 2020, captivated my interest a couple of years back with its timeless country songwriting and distinctive sound. Since then, Wyatt has remained active, serving as an opening act for major tours in addition to headlining her own shows. With her third album, Feel Good, Wyatt enlisted the talents of Adrian Quesada from Black Pumas to produce, expanding the roster of musicians to create a richer, more expansive sound that pays homage to classic soul records while retaining Wyatt’s authentic country spirit.
The title track “Feel Good” really captures the soul sound fused with country by adding some subtle percussion, groovy bass, and classic electric piano sounds. Together these pull the spirit of the whole album in a track that serves as a manifesto for the whole album. The cinematic video sees Wyatt on a southwestern ranch, singing while walking around interspersed with horse riding through the desert.
Feel Good came out at the end of last year so this is the first big tour in support. It’s a great chance to catch her in a smaller venue while you still can.
