Stream Discovery Zone’s “Quantum Web” / Local Show This Spring
We were first blown away by Discovery Zone (JJ Weihl) back in 2020 upon the release of her debut album Remote Control. Since Weihl was at the time based in Berlin, I figured it would likely be some time until we got the chance to hear her live. Lucky for us, Weihl (now in NYC) not only will visit the Twin Cities this Spring, she’ll do it in support of another terrific new record.
Quantum Web was released last month via RVNG Intl and Weihl will be joining labelmate Julia Holter on tour and at the Fine Line on 5/10 (tix/details). The new album is an entrancing collection of dreamy experimental synthpop. It offers both opportunities to dance as well as moments of a much headier, ambient vibe (not unlike the new Holter record in fact).
As someone who has listened to “Dance II” and “Blissful Morning Dream Interpretation Melody” on a weekly basis for the past 4 years, I am very excited to welcome Weihl to a Minneapolis stage as well as hearing Holter again (who ever disappoints live). Highly recommend checking out this show!
