Broder Returns With Some Techno Bangers on New EP Acceptance
One of the great things about Andrew Broder, in addition to being immensely talented, is that he refuses to rest on his laurels. I won’t go into the laundry list of essential bands and collaborations he has done over the last two decades, most of which he could have just rode until the wheels fell off, but if you aren’t familiar with his catalog you should dig in. (Honestly, whether you like guitar pop, outside electronic music or bombastic hip hop, you’ll find something you like.)
As an example of his dexterity, I saw news of his latest EP, a five song techno album of rich synths and 140bpm jackhammer beats called Acceptance, just days after seeing him shred on guitar as part of the bonkers Marijuana Deathsquads show where they were promoting their THC energy drink at a packed Art A Whirl show, to give a sense of Broder’s eccentric musical life.
You can listen to the first song from the record, the dense and propulsive “East River Road,” right now ahead of the full EP release on May 30th. It is a track that could equally fill a dance floor at 1 am or be disected by a music head with $400 headphones. Like most of Broder’s music, the track is accessible without being cheap, challenging without being pretentious, and just overall fucking good. Stream and purchase the record below.
