Kim Gordon Brings Her Raucous New LP The Collective to Minneapolis TONIGHT! (Fri, Jun 7th)

Kim Gordon is having a post-Sonic Youth renaissance that has seen her explore similar terrain as her work with her groundbreaking band with her own flair, making music that crackles and hisses but never takes shortcuts. She’ll be bringing her current tour to the Fine Line Music Cafe this week (Fri, June 7th) for what should be an outstanding show.

She’s touring behind her latest LP, The Collective, which is 11 songs of deconstructed art pop that buzzes with energy that bands who weren’t even born when Sonic Youth started would kill to have, showcasing a way forward for pop and rock music. You can stream the album below and, having seen Gordon before in the past, I’m sure this will be a fun, high wire show tonight.

Also wanted to give a shout out to Infinite River, the group opening the evening, who transitioned from more ambient-y material of their new albums to more spacey rock on their recently released LP Tabula Rasa, which should bring some great energy to the opening slot.
