Introducing: The Genre-Bending Pop of Estuary (Release Show TONIGHT!)
Estuary is a Minneapolis based collective that crafted a whole album (“reverse engineered,” in their terms) around solo tracks crafted by band member Zack Baltich. Hearing the genre-bending eight-song LP, you wouldn’t know these weren’t intricately mapped out plans as they are rich, dense sonic adventures that blend ambient, orchestral and dream pop.
It’s a fun, if a bit somber, collection that sounds a bit like if Cloud Cult had more dramatic vocals and decided to use Menomena’s songwriting method, with added dollops of classical elegance, found sound explorations and post-rock expansiveness. If you like your music ambitious, this is probably a record for you. You can stream and purchase the album below.
The band are celebrating the release tonight (Sunday, June 9th) at the Cedar with an opening slot from Doomtree producer Lazerbeak. More info on the show HERE.
