Song Premiere: Restricted “Things Will Never Be The Same” (Album out Friday!)
Today we have a premiere of a song off of Twin Cities artist Restricted‘s debut album out this Friday. Restricted walks a lot of lines, falling somewhere between minimal ambient synth, darkwave and post-rock. “Things Will Never Be The Same” offers vibes of John Carpenter soundtracks before descending into a short, icy electronic drone, giving a hint of classic experimentalists like Coil. Among the other album tracks released already, the title track offers a hazy nostalgia, synths, and voices wrapped in a layer of static. Restricted has sharpened its craft over the last decade with a series of EPs, starting with 2015’s more pulsing Modern Distance all the way up through last year’s much darker Burning Through The Days, which gives the best preview to the new album.
