Watch The Video for Lava La Rue’s Fuzzy Funk Jam “LOVEBITES” (Show Tomorrow!)
Lava La Rue’s debut album STARFACE dropped earlier this summer and presents a very interesting blend of past and future sounds, combining psychedelic funk, ska, grunge, soul, and indie rock into a vibrant sonic mix. Described as “a lesbian version of Ziggy Stardust”, STARFACE lays out a full narrative of an intergalactic being named the same as the album title who’s been sent to Earth to study and help humanity. “LOVEBITES” is a great showcase of what the album has to offer, anchored by a fuzzy bass groove, Prince-esque vocals, and squiggly synths. Lava has been active the last number of years with their collective NiNE8 Collective, which features fellow British newcomers Mac Wetha and Biig Piig, collaborating with a lot of other up and coming artists like Deb Never. Lava is definitely a future star to watch, so find yourself to the Palace tomorrow night early to catch them opening for Remi Wolf.
Lava La Rue plays the Palace Theatre tomorrow night (9/18/24) with Remi Wolf. More information here.
