070 Shake Gets Dramatic In “Vagabond” Video (Show Sunday!)
Like a lot of other people most likely, 070 Shake caught my attention on Kanye’s “Ghost Town” back in 2018. An EP, two full-lengths, and a big guest spot on Raye’s “Escapism” have followed in the years between, but it’s really been last year’s Petrichor that’s caught my attention again. New collaborators bring out Shake’s singing voice over her rapping, dense orchestral arrangements really emphasize how great her voice sounds. The album is a big pop record yet blown out and processed experimentation. “Vagabond” is a moody piano-led song built on stacks of vocals and a woozy 6/8 feel. The video matches the feel with a beautiful side scroll of scenes lit on black backgrounds. I’m excited to see what she brings to her first headlining First Avenue show.
